Hi
I have a 3 step equation that I am trying to find where my equation is going wrong

View Factor = 0.5Lfcosα
where Lf = 6.95
where α = 70
1.189306644 = =0.5*6.95*COS(RADIANS(70)) CORRECT?

Welcome to Free Math Help!

Assuming [MATH]\alpha[/MATH] is meant to be 70 degrees, your formula is correct. The result is a bit off, probably due to your calculator doing some unwanted rounding. The actual result is closer to 1.188519998.

When I put your formula into Excel (which it appears to be for), I get the correct answer, as given by Mr. Bland.

It appears that you used 6.9546 instead of 6.95. Might you be displaying a rounded value for that?
