Hi, there's a lot of talk in forums abot converting gross to net returns, but what about net to gross?

What would be the formula in excel to do this generally? For example, converting gross to net could look like this:

=C10+rCpn*(1+0.5*C10)

But what would it look like to do the other way? Thanks in advance!

If only one could tell what it is you are doing. Maybe one numeric example with your non-Excel formulas and numeric demonstration?

Solve the equation for gross.

What does blank space =C10+rCpn*(1+0.5*C10) mean?

What is on the other other side of the equal sign? What is C, r, p and n?

In math one can use any variables they like. No one will ever complain about that. What they will complain about is when you do not define your variables.

Ok let me put it this way:

I currently have the following equation:

$netloss = $grossloss + coupon (1+ 0.5*$grossloss/NAV)*NAV

coupon being a bond coupon.
NAV being net asset value

I need to solve for = %grossloss (or $grossloss if not %grossloss).

I hope this helps - it really comes down to rearranging the equation but I am stuck...any help is greatly appreciated.

Let's start with something easy.
n = g + c(1+g)
Can you solve for g?
