I am having a bit of trouble understanding and just need to know if I am doing this correctly. f`1(x) for F(x)=(4x-3)(2x+5)^2; would the answer be 16(2x+5)? Thanks in advance
I cannot see what you did, so I cannot correct your reasoning.
Did you try the Product Rule? Did you remember to apply the Chain Rule?
Alternatively, you could multiply out the factored polynomial and use the Power Rule to find its first derivative, but the exercise was probably assigned to give you an opportunity to use the Product and Chain Rules.
Please show your work, or ask specific questions about your lessons, if you would like more help.
PS: Here are some notes about notation.
The symbol for the first derivative of F(x) is F`(x), not f`(x).
The symbol for the first derivative of f(x) is f`(x), not F`(x).
In other words, do not intermix upper and lower case names for the function. The given function is named f or it is named F, not both.
Also, if you use the prime notation to represent the first derivative, do not write a numeral 1.
