A 2-digit number is 10 times the sum of its digits. The tens digit is 2 greater than the units digit. Find the number.

Solution:

Let x = tens digit
Let y = ones digit

10x + y = 10(x + y)
x = 2 + y

Is this the correct set up?

From the 1st equation you should immediately see that y=0. Then x=2. So the number is 20 which does equal 10(2+0)
