By the way, you should write the fuction above as
f(x) = 1/(2x+4) ..... watch those extra parenthesis.
the way you wrote it, that translates to:
\(\displaystyle f(x) = \frac{1}{2} x + 4 = \frac{x}{2} + 4\)....If this is the given problem to be solved, then x = -2 is within the domain
........................................because f(-2) = 3 (defined)
