1. Convert to slope intercept form (y = mx + b). Where m is the slope and b is the y intercept.
2. To find the domain, think about what the denominator can't be. What value in the denominator is undefined? To find the range, think about what values that function can't have for an output. Look at the numerator, as a consequence of it being a constant non-zero number, the rational function can't ever be what? Often it helps to graph a function to get an idea of what the domain and range can be. I don't know if you've learned about horizontal asymptotes yet, but that also might give you a clue as to what the range is.
