Hello, Kwesi74!
Evidently, you're not familiar with the Point-Slope Formula.
. . What have you been taught?
.Just the Slope-Intercept form:
. \(\displaystyle y \,= \,mx + b\) ?
Find the an equation of a line through the point (2,5) with slope 1/2
We are given the slope: \(\displaystyle m \,= \,\frac{1}{2}\)
. . The equation (so far) is;
.\(\displaystyle y \,= \,\frac{1}{2}x + b\)
Since \(\displaystyle (2,5)\) is on the line, we have: \(\displaystyle x = 2,\;y = 5.\)
Plug those into our equation:
. \(\displaystyle 5 \;= \;\frac{1}{2}(2) + b\quad\Rightarrow\quad b = 4\)
There! . . . The equation is:
.\(\displaystyle y \;= \;\frac{1}{2}x + 4\)
