problem
8%x + (10,000 - x) * 10% = 870
I know x is equal to 6500 from the text book i have. which is what i want to find.
question 1
if i * both sides of the equation by 100 to remove the % would it look like this
8/100 * 100 + 100(10,000 - x) * 10/100 * 100 = 870
8 + 10,000,00 - 100x * 10 = 870, 00
10,000,08 - 1000x = 870
i have no idea if i am on the right track with this.
Question 2 (general question)
given an equation such as. a * b + c * d = a if i were to multiply both sides of this equation by 5 would it look like this
5a * 5b + 5c * 5d = a5
or
a * b + c * d * 5 = a5
0r
5a * b + 5c * d =a5
i am not quite sure if i can just times 5 at the end or times 5 on each variable or times 5 just between the addition and subtraction sings.
Any help would be great thanks in advance
