Is your problemtaragbeh said:Need some help here thanks
1/5k + 5= 1/6k- 10
I got three answers so I am unsure if i am doing the right thing. my answers are K=150 & k=50& k- 20. ( unsure)
Please assist me here thanks
taragbeh said:my question is 1/5 * k + 5 = 1/6 * k- 10
so therefore i multiply by 30 <<<< Correct
30(1/5 k) + 30(5) = 30 (1/6 k)- 30(10)
2k +150=5k-300 <<<< 30 x (1/5) = 6 not 2
2k-5k=-150-300 ( combine like terms)<<<< Correct step
-3k=-450 ( divide by -3)<<<< Correct step
ans is k=150<<<< Correct step
Except for the step indicated above - everything else is okay
Thats how I got 150
But I am not sure if my procedures are correct especially with the first step of finding the LCM. Please advise
The tutor "came up with" 6 by correctly multiplying 30 and 1/5. You were the one who "came up with" 2; the tutor had merely copied what you'd posted, in order to highlight the error and correct it.taragbeh said:Ok i am lost. how do you come up with the 6 and 2 where you highlighted"?

What did you get, when you plugged "-450" back into the original equation?taragbeh said:Ok I saw my error but the answer will be -450 . Is that correct?
