Evaluate the following expression being sure to follow the order of operations. I used exclamation points to represent absolute values.

!9 – 3 * 2! + !7 – (4 –2)2!

!9-6!+!7-(4-4)!
3+7
10

Is this correct?

I got 6 as an answer...

| 9-(3*2) | + |7-(4-2)2|

Parentheses
| 9-6 | + | 7-2(2) |

Multiplication

|9-6| + |7-4|

Subtraction

|3| + |3|

ABS & Addition

3+3

6

Since (4-2)2 has parentheses around (4-2), it means you do the subtraction before you times it by 2, I think.

Not quite....

!9 – 3 * 2! + !7 – (4 –2)2!

!9-6!+!7-(4-4)!
3+7
10

The first absolute value does come out to 3. The secnd one, however, is where you go wrong. Remember that parentheses come first. So

!7-(4-2)2!=!7-(2)2)!=!7-4!=3

So the answer is 3+3=6.
