how would I factor this problem completely:

14x^2 - 17x - 6

I have done this so for.

(14)(6)=84 then I found the GCF of 84 which was 7and 12 .

I am stuck.

Have you learned synthetic division yet?

If not, testing dfferent numbers looks like the best way.

14x^2 - 17x - 6

Think of two factors of 14 that multiply to equal 14

14 x 1
7 x 2

Then think of two factors of 6 that multiply to equal 6

6x1
3x2

Looks like it, so...

(7x+2)(2x-3)

looks like it would work. FOIL it to double check.
