Fast crypt

That's very palindromic of you, but does that fit the rules for a cryptic clue?
speedster = race car
speedster goes both ways = race car (direct does double duty).
That's allowed; seen more often with @lit clues.

… a palindrome …
I got that. I'm thinking about the entire clue as direct. How does "goes both ways" fit with a statement about a race car? The car moves forward and it moves backward? It goes clockwise around the track and counterclockwise? It goes fast at the track and normal speeds on public roads?

Capisce?

Yeah I capisce. That's why I asked Denis if his clue fits the rules. Still not sure (but I am not familiar with all the rules anyway).
