How many feet does a wheel with a diameter of 27 inches travel after 6 hours?

Solution:

I see the words wheel and diameter. This tells me that C = pi•d is needed. I need to find C.

C = pi(27 inches)(6 hours)

Is this the correct set up to find C?

I would use the arc-length formula:

[MATH]s=r\theta=\left(\frac{27\text{ in}}{2}\cdot\frac{1\text{ ft}}{12\text{ in}}\right)\left(\frac{6\text{ rev}}{1\text{ hr}}\cdot\frac{2\pi}{1\text{ rev}}\cdot6\text{ hr}\right)=\,?[/MATH]

Unit conversion?

Yes, we want \(s\) in ft as directed by the problem's stated instructions.
