Rich (BB code):
  63 9 38 33 32 12
88 25 16 18 15 ? 5

Rich (BB code):
  34 32 36 46 64 75 50 35 34
16 18 14 22 ? 40 35 15 20 12

For the first one, is it possible that 38 is supposed to be 34?
sum of the two legs = the head => ? =24

No, 38 is correct. (With all the goofs I've made lately, I'd triple-checked my post!)

sum of the two legs = the head
Nice recognition, BBB, but that pattern doesn't work for the legs at far right.

:)

Hmm... Back to the drawing board.?

I'm guessing it has something to do with Rich (BB code)s, which I know nothing about!!

Hi Harry. Naw -- the forum software inserts those headers, whenever code tags (regular or rich) are used. Code tags are one of several Bulletin Board (BB) codes. This brainteaser involves arithmetic only.

Code tags are used to prevent the system from removing repeated spaces (handy for using spaces to align or position text. The regular code tags do not allow text formatting (boldface, colors, etc), while the 'rich' version of code tags do.

Consider the elements in small chunks.

While not a requirement, one could make do with addition only.
