I will guess that you are working on exercise (a), but are not familiar with straight-line equations (since you aren't familiar with what "m" stands for, it would appear).
In the line equation, "y = mx + b", the "m" is the slope value and the "b" is where the line intersects the y-axis. To find the slope of a line in "y = mx + b" form, you would look for the "m" value, not the "b" value.
Pay particular attention to the explanation of the rules for the slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines. And make sure you MEMORIZE the slope formula, the slope-intercept formula, and the point-slope formula before the next test!
