can someone please explain to me how this is wrong? And in what sense? Is the x not supposed to be on top of the numerator?don’t worry about how the problem is stated. I just want to know if this is right.

I am assuming your answer is in the box ?? Your function on the right is correct. What is incorrect is your notation on the left.
You have \(\displaystyle f^{-1(x)}\) whereas it should be \(\displaystyle f^{-1}(x)\).
You have lost the marks because you haven't used proper mathematical notation.
