Find the cost per pound of a meatloaf mixture made from 3 lb of ground beef costing $1.99 per pound and 1lb of ground turkey costing $1.39 per pound.

I put 3(1.99)+1.39....but the answer is wrong ....anybody knows?

Since you were asked for "cost per pound", I'm not sure why you thought "3(1.99)+1.39" would be a valid response...?

What is the cost of the beef input?

What is the cost of the turkey input?

What is the total cost of the inputs?

What is the weight of beef input?

What is the weight of turkey input?

What is the total weight of the inputs?

Then what is the cost per unit of weight?

If you get stuck, please reply showing all of your work and reasoning. Thank you! :D

Let's start with basics ...

Hello Igor:

From reading other posts, I'm not sure that you understand the concept of ratios (like cost-per-pound).

I would like you to answer the following question so that I can determine where to start to help you.

If the cost for 3 lbs. of cheese is $9, then what is the cost-per-pound?

~ Mark :)

But, it asks for the cost per pound of the 4 pound mixture. It looks like your answer doesn't answer the question asked. You need an answer that looks like this ,,, $x.xx per pound where each x represents a digit.
