I haven't solved the question, but gave the starting point to be able to solve it. Is this not allowed?
 
The problem says "use a disk". Does that not tell you something? Look at one specific point on the x-axis. Draw a line from that point to the graph. Its length is \(\displaystyle y= \frac{x^2}{4}+ 1\). If you rotate that around the x-axis it sweeps out a disk with radius \(\displaystyle r= \frac{x^2}{4}+ 1\). What is the area of the circle? Imagine that it has thickness "dx". What is the volume of that disk? Now add the volume or all the disks at every x value (integrate).
