If \(ax+by+c=0,~~a\cdot b\ne 0\) is a line its slope is \(m=\frac{-b}{a}\) its \(y\text{-intercept }\) is \(\dfrac{-c}{a}\).
Now any line perpendicular to the given line has slope \(\dfrac{-1}{m}\).
