Hello, please help I have looked in my text and cannot find anything to help me with these two problems.

Find the slope and y-intercept

1.)y=x

2.) x=-9 (I know that the slope is -9, but because there is no y, does that mean it is 0?)

Find the slope and y-intercept
Slope-Intercept Form: y = m*x + b
Slope is 'm'
Intercept is 'b', or (0,b)

y = 1*x + 0
Slope: 1
Intercept: 0

2.) x=-9 (I know that the slope is -9, but because there is no y, does that mean it is 0?)[/quote]
y = ??? It doesn't have much of a Slope-Intercept form, does it? This is a special case you must learn to recognize. No mater whay 'y' is, x = -9. It is a vertical line. It has NO y-intercept, since that would require that x = 0 somewhere. It is called "No Slope" in the absence of anything better to call it.

Thank you! After I read your reply I did a mental head slap. I was so focused on trying to find the answer in the text, I forgot about horizontal and vertical lines. Duh! Again, thanks for the help!! :)
