okay so if it were 30-60-90 triangle, i would have understood how to do this problem. but 42degress? kinda lost....

x / sin(42) = 16 / sin(90) ; what's sin(90)?
Do you not know the Law of Sines?

Or the definition of sine in a right triangle? sin A = opposite/hypotenuse
