fractions: how does 1/2 of 5 equal 4

Re: fractions

It doesn't o_O

1/2 of 5 means 1/2 x 5 which is not 4.

is there any variable???

Variable? huh? What would be varying?

(1/2) of 5 cannot equal 4

but you could multiple another number to make it equal to four (multiply by a variable and solve for it)

say: 5x/2 = 4
5x = 8
x = 8/5

(1/2)(5)(8/5) = 4
(5/2)(8/5) = 4
40/10 = 4
4 = 4

But I don't believe that is what you wanted or needed to do.

Re: fractions

That to me is obviously a puzzle/joke; nobody gets my : (f)iv(e) ?

"five" has 4 letters; so 1/2 of "five" is 2 letters: iv = 4 (in Roman numerals)
