(1/2) of 5 cannot equal 4 but you could multiple another number to make it equal to four (multiply by a variable and solve for it) say: 5x/2 = 4 5x = 8 x = 8/5 (1/2)(5)(8/5) = 4 (5/2)(8/5) = 4 40/10 = 4 4 = 4 But I don't believe that is what you wanted or needed to do.
