My brain has been completely fried today and I can barely string any thoughts together. Any help would be extremely appreciated, I have no idea what to do despite this question being simple.

Find the value of x. Identify the theorem used to find the answer.

You have to try something. You have similar triangles. What have you done with that information?
Try to update that diagram and post back with something new. Then if you still need a hint we'll give you another one.

I determined that the two "inner triangles" on the left must be congruent by Angle-Angle-Side. That would make x=5?

There are lots of triangles there, but I suppose you mean the two that have corresponding sides 2x+2 and x+7, so that 2x+2=x+7, from which you get x=5. That's correct.

So you did have an idea what to do! (That's one reason we ask you to show some work -- often you know more than you think, once you make an effort and we can check it.)
