ADE and ABC are similar triangles. Where does that lead you?

Does your text include something like this? (It was called the "SideSplitter Theorem" in the geometry book I taught out of years ago):

If a line parallel to one side of a triangle intersects the other two sides, it divides those sides in segments which are proportional.

So, in your diagram, since line DE is parallel to line BC,

AD / DB = AE / EC


You're given expressions for the lengths of each of those segments. Can you solve for x? Once you have the value of x you should be able to find the lengths you're asked for.
 
Since DE and BC are parallel and both the triangles ADE and ABC have a common included angle A, therefore they are similar triangles. Now follow my work.
