Suppose \(\displaystyle A~\&~B\) are points on a number line and if \(\displaystyle \mathcal{C}_A~\&~\mathcal{C}_B\) are the coordinates of those points then the distance \(\displaystyle AB=\left|\mathcal{C}_A - \mathcal{C}_B\right|\)

Yes, and using this definition, we find:
