There are probably many such functions f and g. What do you mean by "finding" "a" function?

Please reply with the exact and complete text of the exercise with which you are having difficulty. Thank you.

How about f(x) = g(x) = x.

Any f(x) = g(x) will work. I wonder if the student is supposed to find a few examples where f(x) does not equal g(x).

Yup. It's tough to know without a complete problem statement.

I figured this out, but here was the complete problem.

Find an example where f of g equals g of f and an example where f of g does not equal g of f.

f(g(x)) g(f(x))
