GRAPHING linear PIECEWISE FUNCTIONS

How do you accurately graph piecewise. I think i am missing a piece as to where it starts and stop and how do I know how far. example 2x + 1, if x is less than or equal to -2 and -3/2 x +5 greater than -2

Personally, i tend to ignore that it is "peicewise" and just graph the two pieces. I can cross out the parts i don't want, later.
