Graphing X,Y Please help PLEASE

The question is If X=-2 then Y=5-3*-2=11 I don't understand how it's 11shouldn't it be -4
can someone explain the method behind it please

5-3*(-2) = (5) - [3*(-2)] = (5) - [-6] = 5 + 6 =11.

Before you subtract (or add) you have to know what you are subtracting (or adding). The subtraction symbol should help as you are subtracting the values on either side of the subtraction symbol. You have 5 which is 5 and 3*(-2) which is -6
Now only now can you subtract. 5 - (-6) is NOT 5-6 so it must be 5 + 6 =11
