Having a tough time with differentiability?

I have been trying to solve the remaining parts of this problem, alas, I have failed at all my attempts. I seem to lack the undestanding to solve part e and h (red boxes) in the attached picture. I honsetly don't know who to solve the remaining parts, and find it hard to interpret what it is asking. Any assistance/help is appreciated.

Your image contains almost three screens' worth of stuff. Instead of putting everything into a single image, try uploading three separate images. :cool:
