Mary had 0.8 gallon of milk. She gave 0.3 of the milk to Tom. How much milk did Tom get?

Do you realize that 0.3 is the decimal form of the fraction 3/10 ?

In other words, Tom got three-tenths of Mary's milk.

We calculate three-tenths of a number by multiplying it.

Mary has 0.8 gallons, so multiply 0.8 by 0.3 to calculate the number of gallons of Milk that Tom got.
