How would you solve for x in an equation like this?

x = 2^(x-1)

Just by guess and check, I see that x=1 and x=2 works, but how can I solve it algebraically?

Plot y = x and y = 2^(x-1)

The points intersection are your solutions.

As far as I know, you cannot get a "closed form" solution for this equation - algebraically.
