help help...factoring polynomials step by step

You did a great job Lisa! Ok, the first step you will want to take when factoring is to find if there is anything that you can pull out of all of the numbers in the equation. In this particular equation... 9x3+39x2+12 , you'll notice that all of these numbers are divisible by what number?

The suggested factorization is the only thing I see that can be done, since the remaining polynomial has no rational zeroes.

Lizzie, you said: You did a great job Lisa!
What good job? Absolutely nothing done.

AGAIN, that probably should be 9x^2 + 39x + 12 ; divide by 3:
3x^2 + 13x + 4 ; factor:
(x + 4)(? + ?) : you finish it

Edit: Geez Mamzelle Lisa, I see you re-posted
Do you not CHECK your posts before sending them :?:

But this time she used the formatted that Lizzie explained. That was the "good job" she was referring to. But your confusion and frustration should, it is hoped, help explain to Lisa why multi-posting is discouraged.

Eliz.

Yeah, I didn't realize that she had multiposted this one instead of editing it until after I said good job. I am, however, happy that she figured out the formatting.
