G Gene Senior Member Joined Oct 8, 2003 Messages 1,904 Sep 20, 2005 #2 I assume you want you solve for what is indicated. x + k / j = 3/4, for x but my guess is you mean (x+k)/j = 3/4 x + k = 3j/4 x = 3j/4 - k and a - 3y / b + 4 = a + y, for y is (a - 3y) / b + 4 = a + y (a - 3y) / b - y = a - 4 a - 3y -by = b(a-4) (-3-b)y = b(a-4) - a y = (ba-4b-a)/(-3-b) If that isn't what you mean, let me know. ----------------- Gene
