Help with calculus question please

What have you tried? Where do you need help?

Did you use implicit differentiation on the hyperbola, and then use the point-slope form of the line? Or did you do something different?

At some point, you will have to use the fact that [MATH](x_1,y_1)[/MATH] is on the curve.

As Khan said, find [MATH]m = \frac{dy}{dx}[/MATH], then

the equation of the tangent line is

[MATH]y - y_1 = m(x - x_1)[/MATH]
You just need to find [MATH]m[/MATH], and rearrange the equation to get the required one.
