Hi i am stuck because I don't understand where the values of c, n, m and d can be found. I understand thats its given me that second formula to use but I don't understand how to turn the first equation into that formula. Any explanation would be great thanks

Have you considered binomial expansion?

Please write (a+b)⁸ in expanded form.

Then assume b = 1/a and simplify the above.

Then think how is that relevant for your question......

Do you know the a value? Is that any different from not knowing the x value?
For the record, they did not have to give you that 2nd equation.

Once it’s in that form, 𝑐 c is the coefficient of the main term, 𝑛 n is the base of any exponent, 𝑚 m is the slope if it’s linear, and 𝑑 d is the constant term; the values can then be read directly from the equation.
