I’m not sure either since you didn’t use any parentheses to group things in your problem. Is it supposed to be this:

1/4 = 3 – (2x-1)/(x+2) ?

If that’s it, the common denominator is 4(x + 2). To get rid of all denominators, multiply both sides of the equation by 4(x + 2):

4(x + 2)(1/4) = [3 – (2x-1)/(x+2)](4)(x + 2)
x + 2 = 12(x + 2) – 4(2x – 1 )
x + 2 = 12x + 24 – 8x + 4
x + 2 = 4x + 28
x – 26 = 4x
-26 = 3x
x = -26/3
