i have a trig problem that is causing me trouble.

i need to find the distance from a point on the line
(-3/(square root of 13))x+(2/(square root of 13))y-(6/(square root of 13))=0

to line 6x-4y+16=0
 
Your 1st line: (-3/(square root of 13))x+(2/(square root of 13))y-(6/(square root of 13))=0

Multiply through by sqrt(13):
-3x + 2y - 6 = 0
2y = 3x + 6
y = (3/2)x + 3

Your 2nd line: 6x-4y+16=0

Divide by 2:
3x - 2y + 8 = 0
2y = 3x + 8
y = (3/2)x + 4

Wrap it up!
