Hm, am I wrong?

I can't see where I went wrong on this problem, but that's not really much of a surprise(I'm terrible at math). Anyway, here's the problem:

10(-2x+1) = -19(x+1)

I get the answer:

x = -29

However, the book says that the answer is:

x = 29

Did I make a mistake, or is it just a typo in the book? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You made a mistake. Show what you did, and I'll tell you specifically where you went wrong.

Sorry, the book wins:

You did not show any steps. It is much simpler to be helpful if you show what you did.

10(-2x+1) = -19(x+1)
-20*x + 10 = -19*x - 19

Add 19*x

-20*x + 19*x + 10 = -19*x + 19*x - 19
(-20*x + 19*x) + 10 = (-19*x + 19*x) - 19
-x + 10 = 0 - 19
-x + 10 = - 19

My guess is something went wrong right around there.

I think I see what I did wrong.

I got -x = -29

This would be the same as x = 29, correct?

Yep-since negative x equals negative 29, positive x equals positive 29.
