how do you find the inverse (meaning multiplicative inverse) of a matrix? I'm confused about how to go about it. If someone could provide me with an example, I'd be grateful.

No wonder you had trouble the the other problem you posted!
The process of finding the inverse of a general non-singular matrix is quite involved. This is the sort of topic not easily done in a web-forum. You really need to sit down with an instructor or take a textbook and work through it with pencil and paper making lots of notes. We just can't do it here.
