You'd need more information. For example, if you knew that XY = 15 cm, then BY would be 15 - 10 = 5, so AB would be 8 - 5 = 3 cm. (You could also find a quicker way to do this, which is a little harder to explain.)Hello,
I have a doubt...
How to I find the measure of AB when XB = 10cm, YA = 8cm (please refer the figure attached with the questionView attachment 23667).
Please help me out.
Thanks!!
Aditya
Jomo, please check your work above. You are missing a 2.XB + AY = XA + AB + AB + BY = XA + 2AB + BY = XY + AB
So 10 + 8 = XY + AB or 18 = XY + AB.
So AB = 18 - XY.
This is the best you can do.
Thanks For the reply. I knew the sum was wrong. Thanks AGAINYou'd need more information. For example, if you knew that XY = 15 cm, then BY would be 15 - 10 = 5, so AB would be 8 - 5 = 3 cm. (You could also find a quicker way to do this, which is a little harder to explain.)
But as it stands, you can't find AB.
