sir
here is a question:
Find the number of solutions for positive integers a, b,and c such that
a+b+c=38 and a^2+b^2+c^2=722
regards
Sujoy

What have you tried? How far have you gotten?

Eliz.

here is what I got:
a+b+c=38
[a+b+c]^2 = a^2+b^2+c^2+2{ab+bc+ca}= [38]^2
again 722 = 19*19*2...... next? what to be done

If (a + b + c)2 = (a2 + b2 + c2 + 2(ab + bc + ac) = 1444, and a2 + b2 + c2 = 722, then subtracting gives you that 2(ab + bc + ac) = 1444 - 722 = 722, and ab + bc + ac = 361 = 192.

Does that help at all?

Eliz.

Hey, Sujoy, could you please not assume everyone replying to you is a "Sir".

Thanks

Now, now, happy; no need getting offended by this particular aspect of Indian culture. It's how he's been taught to address people (assuming sujoy is a "he"), and he means it to be polite. Take it in the spirit it's being offered. And if you'd prefer he address you in some other manner, gently say so. I wouldn't be surprised but what he falls all over himself doing as you ask.

And, for the record, this particular "she" doesn't mind being addressed as "sir". Just make sure you salute when you say it.

Eliz.

Can you ever forgive me? For the record, I am also Indian.

sujoy, please address me as Sir Deniscelot.

[...and if anybody calls Eliz "Sir", I'll challenge him to a horseback duel
in the vicinity of the Palace, at the mouth of the drawbridge, while Eliz
is watching from the top window of the Tower, waving a polkadot hanky
and yelling "ohhhhhhhh My Hero!"]

No way, dude: I ain't hangin' out on no drawbridge. Don't need nobody defendin' me.

I'm gonna snag me one o' them horsies, grab my 9-mil, and... Y'all are so callin' me "Sir" by the time I be done!

Eliz.

Good day
I never expect anyone from the message board to address me as
SIR
my purpose of addressing all of you as sir is that it is a respectable
way of addressing........after all how do refer to your tutors :?:
however if you dislike it in any way, I ought to address you as you please
-------basically my intention is to convey my respect as I send any query
& Iwas pretty ignorant of this way of calling you
thanks

You're female? (Because if you're male, then "sir", in lieu of your name, should be fine, right? Respect can go both ways, ya know!)

I appreciate that. Please don't take our joking around to heart. Your intentions were good and your manners are fine.

That really can't be you writing that message, Stapel?
Why ever not?

In AZ, wouldn't you prefer a 0.45? A foreign job?
 What does the location have to do with whether or not I can "handle" a certain sized piece? What do you mean by "a foreign job"? What does the manufacturer have to do with it, or with Arizona?

I don't get it....

Eliz.
