The answer is supposed to be T= .9 but I get way different answers please help me with the correct order of actions.

18 = 20
60 5T- 1.5

What have you tried that ended badly?

I might suggest making your life a little easier..

[math]\dfrac{18}{60} = \dfrac{3\cdot 6}{10\cdot 6} = \dfrac{3}{10} = \dfrac{20}{5T - 1.5} =\dfrac{20}{5T - 1.5}\cdot\dfrac{2}{2} = \dfrac{40}{10T - 3} [/math].

IT looks like lot, but look at each item and see that it is simple adjustments.

[math]\dfrac{3}{10} = \dfrac{40}{10T - 3} [/math]
Plus, there are lots of other ways to proceed. Let us know how YOU did it.

The answer is supposed to be T= .9 …
Hello. That's not the correct solution, Valderramaj.

T = 409/30 ≈ 16.63 (rounded)

You can type the equation like this:

18/60 = 20/(5T - 1.5)

As tkhunny showed, the fraction 18/60 can be reduced because 18 and 60 are multiples of 6. (Divide both the numerator and the denominator by 6.)

3/10 = 20/(5T - 1.5)

When two ratios are equal, we call that a proportion.

A/B = C/D

We can always rewrite a proportion like this:

(A)(D) = (B)(C)

In other words, we can write and solve:

(3)(5T - 1.5) = (10)(20)

?

IMG_20200605_192934.jpgI tried it by reducing/ adjusting both sides before solving for T and I still got the same answer 13.63. ?

IMG_20200605_192824~2.jpg I'm doing problems in a workbook and it says the answer is supposed to be .9 in the key in the back of the book and also shows in the excersize that .9 is the only one left....maybe the workbook is wrong!

It looks good. I would not go to decimals. You had 1227/90 = 409/30. So T = 409/30
