Let the number be x.

"three times a number" = 3x

"4 less than three times a number" = "4 less than 3x" = 3x - 4

The product of three and two less than a number.
Could also be 3(n-2)
(I think it is!)

The ratio of a number [and] four more than a number
Four more than a number is n+4. The ratio is n/(n+4)

Three more than a number
Look at the others and you tell us.

n-6
ooook...but why not 6 < n ?

There are set phrases for algebraic expressions. More than (also greater than) and less than are used for sum and difference, respectively. It may be counterintuitive, but that's the convention.
