Assume we have a matrix Anxn. In class we learned that if the given matrix is symmetrical then you can conclude withought calculating any eigenvalues or eigenvectors that there is a Diagonal of this matrix. Does such thing exists or I misheard the professor? and if yes, why so?
Also, if that is true is there any way to determine (not calculate) without calculating eigenvalues, eigenvectors if there is a diagonal of a matrix, if the given matrix is NOT symmetrical?
