# I need to solve for x (ratio of developer to water in soln)

Hi, I hope I am in the correct forum. Here is the problem I have:

I have a ratio of 1 ounce of developer to 62 ounces of water, and the total is 63 ounces of solution. I don't need 63 ounces of solution; I only need 270 mL.

So here is what I have so far: I have used an online conversion tool and converted 270 mL to ounces, and the answer is 9.13 ounces. So I need a total of 9.13 ounces of solution.

Since the ratio is 1:63, I multiplied each by 9.13. I now have 9.13/63, and here is where I lose control. I don't know here to go from here.

What I need to know is how much developer and how much water are needed to make 9.13 ounces of solution.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Gary

First, WHY is your post named: "I need to solve for x" ? :shock:

62 1 63
8.985 .145 9.13
OK?

(1 oz developer)/(63 oz solution) = (x mL developer)/(270 mL solution)

63x = 270

x = 270/63 = approx 4.3 mL developer
