if 2x-3(x+4)=-5 what is x

What have you tried on your own? Please show any attempts thus far.

If any other tutor gives you the answer, it is because they want to increase their post count 8-)

How far have you gotten? Please show all of your steps, starting with how you took the -3 through the parentheses on the left-hand side.

Thank you! :D

Well I have the answers, it is a practice test, but I haven't done algebra for years.

20-4/5x is greater than or equal to 16, then x is what ...I'm stuck on this one too, and have no idea where to start on either one.

Unfortunately, we cannot re-teach the missing or forgotten material. But we can provide links to on-topic lessons.

. . . . .Google results for "negative numbers"

. . . . .Google results for "simplifying parentheses through"

. . . . .Google results for "combining like terms"

. . . . .Google results for "solving linear equations"

. . . . .Google results for "solving linear inequalities"

Those should be enough to get you started. When you hit new topics (not covered by the above) on which you need review, please post a representative example, and we'll be glad to find you more links! :D
