If 4 less than 3 times a certain number is 2 more than the number, what is the number?

So i'm getting stuck on the set up...i have :
3N - 4 + 2N ...am i on the right track?
If so what is the next step, just plug in answer choices for N?

is --> =

2 more than the number --> N + 2

Now put these together and continue....
