(1/2)*(y+2)+2 = (1/4)*(8y-60)-3 I'm tempted to clear the parentheses on the right, first. (1/2)*(y+2)+2 = 2y-15-3 Simplify (1/2)*(y+2)+2 = 2y-18 May as well get the 2 while we're at it. (1/2)*(y+2) = 2y-20 Multply the world by 2 y+2 = 4y-40 Add 40 y+42 = 4y Subtract y 42 = 3y One more thing. Well, how did you manage 69/6 = 23/2?
