What is the interval notation of

-12 is greater than or equal to 3x - 4 is greater than or equal to 8

Is the answer

[-12,8]

Note: If you take out the middle "3x - 4" part, you'll discover that the "ends" of this inequality say that -12 > 8. Since no negative is ever greater than any positive, this inequality can clearly not be solved! :shock:

as posted, your inequality has no solution (how can -12 be greater than something that is also greater than 8 ???)

did you really mean ...

-12 < 3x-4 < 8 ?

if so, add 4 to each expression in the inequality ...

-8 < 3x < 12

divide each term by 3 ...

-8/3 < x < 4

you're done.
