canyou please show me how to get the answer to this problem . the answer is x=3.5 and x=-1.5

the problem is as follows

2|x-1|=20=25

I assume you mean ...

2|x-1| + 20 = 25

subtract 20 from both sides ...

2|x-1| = 5

divide both sides by 2 ...

|x-1| = 2.5

now |2.5| = 2.5 or |-2.5| = 2.5, so

either x-1 = 2.5 or x-1 = -2.5

can you finish now?
